Position Summary:
The Residential Counselor provides direct care, supervision, and support to residents in a Level 3 group home setting. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while promoting positive behavior, daily living skills, and social-emotional development. The counselor works closely with clinical staff, families, and the treatment team to implement individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 24/7 care, supervision, and support to residents with high behavioral or emotional needs.
- Implement individualized treatment and behavior plans as directed by clinical staff or supervisors.
- Monitor, document, and report resident behaviors, incidents, and progress.
- Assist residents with daily living skills, including hygiene, meal preparation, and routines.
- Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and de-escalation as needed.
- Facilitate recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team, families, and other staff.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic home environment.
- Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, behavioral, emotional, or developmental needs preferred.
- Training in crisis intervention, behavior management, or therapeutic techniques preferred.
- Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
